The MP room will be transformed into a charming bookstore during our annual Briones Book Fair occurring April 16-20. If you’ve been eyeing a few books lately, move them out of your Amazon cart and buy them at the Briones Book Fair instead! A portion of the proceeds directly benefits Juana Briones Elementary School.
Students will have time with their classroom to make their very own wish list. In addition to student wish lists, all of our teachers will have wish lists for their classes that parents can donate to.

In conjunction with the book fair, we’re also doing a “Reading Challenge” where we encourage all parents to read with their children 30 minutes each night the week of April 16-20. By sitting with your child and reading one of your favorite books while they’re reading one of theirs, you can model terrific reading habits and help develop your child into a strong reader.
Back by popular demand, Briones be hosting Math Night on February 27 at 6:00 PM in the MP room.
Join us for a festive evening of math games that are sure to inspire even the most math-reluctant. This is a hands-on, self-paced exploration into the fun of mathematics, with activities for all ages, abilities, and interests.
Play challenging games and puzzles related to logic, strategy, patterns, spatial skills, number sense, geometry, topology, pre-algebra, and more. In other words, there’s something for everyone.
Be prepared to sharpen your problem-solving skills!
We wanted to share this nice note from Principal Tom Jacoubowsky. The PTA board enjoyed hearing from our 3rd grade students, and we were happy to respond to their very persuasive request. 🙂
Another highlight of my week came when Yasmin Shirole invited me to come into her third grade class as the students were working on Persuasive Writing. One of the pieces of work shared with me was about the need for more balls for the ballroom. After reading it and feeling persuaded myself, I told the students I would read their writing at the PTA meeting that was held this past Wednesday. As promised, I read the student’s work to the PTA. They were also very persuaded by the letter, so they approved a budget of $300 to add more balls for our students to enjoy. Fantastic work by the students and thank you to the PTA for your generous contribution!
The PTA needs has two positions open and would like your help in filling them. The two positions are Vice President of Community Activities and Vice President of Communications.
If you could help out, it would be greatly appreciated. To learn more, click the link below.

Dear Briones Families,
Thank you so much for all the support and care you have given the Juana Briones community after the sad news of the passing of our long-time secretary, Maria Eichler.
Maria was such an important part of the Briones family for 30 years and she is greatly missed. The family has setup a scholarship fund in her memory through the PTA.
For more information, please see this page about the Maria Eichler Scholarship.
Thank you again for all of your thoughts and support.
