PiE Rally Days – Challenge Grant

Did you know that Palo Alto PiE (Partners in Education) pays for the Briones art teachers, science teacher, and all classroom aides?

Every gift to PiE counts, and helps to make our school programs possible. The deadline for the Challenge Grant has been extended – gifts and pledges made by October 23rd will be matched by a $235,000 Rally Days Challenge Grant. This is the final Challenge Grant for the year!

Save the date for Harvest Festival!

SAVE-THE-DATE! On Saturday, October 21, 2017, the Juana Briones PTA will host the annual Juana Briones Harvest Festival!

But first, a little history:

The Harvest Festival is the biggest school-wide, community event of the year! It is a carnival where families enjoy food, games, a climbing wall, a jumpy house, etc. During the Harvest Festival, you can sign up for Great Gathering events and also place bids on Silent Auction items and Passport Dinners. PTA General Meeting

This Wednesday, October 4th, we will have a general session PTA meeting in the library at 7:30 PM.

One of the topics that will be discussed on this evening will be a talk by Principal Tom Jacoubowsky about “Responsive Classroom” practices that the teachers at Briones incorporate in their classrooms. These practices help build community inside and outside the classrooms at Briones.

We hope you can come join us for this informative discussion!

Ice Cream Social Update

A special “thank you” for this help with this wonderful event to:

  • Cold Stone Creamery in Mountain View for their generous donation of delicious ice cream to help support our fundraising efforts
  • The parent volunteers who stepped up to organize, sell lemonade and spirit wear, and clean up
  • The fabulous Briones teachers & staff who helped scoop ice cream!

Ice Cream Social

The school year is in full-swing, and students are already anticipating one of their favorite PTA-funded social events: Ice Cream Social!!  This annual event comes at the perfect time when we’ve all settled into the routines of Fall but the heat is still lingering.

This fun event is taking place on Tuesday, Sept 19th, 5:30-7pm. Ticket order forms should have arrived home in your student’s Friday folders — or you can download and print here. Be sure to order tickets ahead of time to take advantage of the short will-call line.  Pizza will be served and water will be available. Bring your yellow reusable Briones cups (also available for $1 at event). Spirit Wear will be offered for sale. And of course, as always, our wonderful Briones teachers will be scooping the ice cream and providing toppings to suit everybody!

If you would like to help, please sign up on SignUpGenius. We need parents to assist with set up, ticket sales, pizza serving, ice cream serving, and cleanup. The shifts are only 30 minutes long so you will get a chance to enjoy the event as well!
