Mark your calendar for the annual Juana Run that will take place at Juana Briones on Saturday, February 24. The day will be full of running races for all ages, including the kindergarten race down Orme Ave. See details in the link below:
2018 Juana Run
This year we are excited that 3-time Olympian and D.M.R. world-record holder Shannon Rowbury will be racing with us! A San Francisco native, she represented the U.S. at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 summer Olympics, ran the 1600m on the distance marathon relay team that holds the current world record, and holds the American record for the 1500m. She will certainly take the competitiveness of the Juana Run to the next level!
The Juana Run is a day of fun for the whole family featuring 8K, 5K, and one mile races, and an array of races for the kids. All proceeds from the race are donated to local schools and athletic organizations including the Gunn High School Sports Boosters, the Juana Briones PTA, and the West Valley Track Club.
Pre-registration will include a T-shirt for all runners! The race will still tour the lovely Barron Park neighborhood in Palo Alto, and all runners can enjoy fresh hot pancakes after the race. Gift cards for winners are generously being provided by A Runner’s Mind, Fleet Feet, and Sports Basement!
A running goal can be the best way to motivate your new year’s running. With a month left to train, the Juana Run is a great goal. Support your community, improve your fitness, and start 2018 off right!

Our upper-grade students recently wrapped their performance of Treasure Island, which was enjoyed by the entire student body and our families. The PTA received this note of thanks from the Briones principal for funding this program.
A big “Thank You” to our PTA for sponsoring the Palo Alto Children’s Theater Outreach program that allowed many of our students to perform in the recent production of Treasure Island.
The show was outstanding and our faculty and students had the opportunity to see their amazing work earlier today.
Thank you, PTA, for your support.
Plan on coming to Briones on Friday, January 19 at 7:00 PM, as we’ll have a general PTA meeting and movie night!
We are very fortunate to have guest speaker, Dr. Fred Luskin, with us for a joint presentation with Principal, Tom Jacoubowsky, on the importance on students developing and having a life balance.
The presentation will be occurring in the library while the movie will be playing in Room 23.
Dr. Luskin had both his children graduate from Palo Alto schools and knows first-hand what our students are going through in our community. He has spoken many times in PAUSD and I’m certain you’ll find his presentation meaningful, worthwhile and you will take home practical tips for your own family.
For 20 years the Juana Run races have been held annually in the Barron Park neighborhood. All race proceeds benefit Barron Park PTA, Juana Briones PTA, Terman Middle School PTA, West Valley Track Club, and Gunn High School Sports Boosters.
2018 REGISTRATION is now open! The 2018 Juana Run will take place on Feb. 24th, 2018. Visit the Juana Run website for more information and registration at juanarun.org.
